This was one of the first pictures I've taken with my then-new camera phone, a Motorola V300 from T-Mobile. My father's first new ride was one of these. And it didn't last very long. Now three decades later the Aspen resurfaces under the Chrysler brand as a rebadged (and a more palatial version of the) Dodge Durango. I vaguely remember the 1st generation Aspen when it was under Dodge, but I can recall in the early 80s that it was mo more, and the K-cars had taken it's place. Apparently Chrysler has yet to realize that when you have something that sells, you don't can it because it put money in their pockets for that last 20 something years prior to Chrysler building this thing here. Before the Dodge Aspen/Plymouth Volare (which tarnished the Road Runner's rep-its time had come anyway), there was the Dodge Dart/Demon as well as the Plymouth Valiant/Duster which like its relatives, have put both MOPAR and Detroit on the map. This car here as well its sister counterpart nearly ran Chrysler into the ground. If it weren't for Coleman Young and Lee Iacocca, it would've been obsolete. I think that after over a century of existence, Chrysler's days may be numbered judging by bad judgments used in its behalf this past decade.
